3.0 Fluency Programme

Recommended when becoming functionally fluent is your priority. You will be able to get yourself understood comfortably and confidently in business situations, and to understand most of what’s being said to you and around you.

Suitable for basic / intermediate speakers who want to express themselves more comfortably and confidently in situations they are most likely to encounter. Also suitable for more advanced speakers who have a good basic understanding of using the language in both social and professional situations but want to take their knowledge to another level and further develop to and interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity.

Overview:The basics at a higher level: Professional introduction. Meeting & greetings, pleasantries, small talk. Networking. Everyday life events and routines, scheduling and planning. Food and drinks culture. Eating in and out. Paying a visit. Invitations. Giving and receiving presents. Shopping. Staying at hotels. Using different services. Travelling and getting around. Voicing opinions, agreement, disagreement.

Key outcomes:

– You’ll be able to get by in the most common social situations with relative ease and confidence.

– You’ll be able to schedule meetings and visits, taken into account cross-cultural perceptions of time.

Overview:The basics at a higher level: Interests and hobbies – both work-related and personal. Telephone ethics. Messaging and email ethics. Work and occupation – the bigger picture. Current affairs and events. International news and their short- and long-term implications.

– You’ll be able to read, watch and listen to authentic news, movies, articles, podcasts and videos, get the gist of what’s been said and give a summary in a coherent way.

– You’ll be able to talk about the industry you work in, with its challenges, and appreciate other people’s work fields and industry challenges.

– You’ll be able to express your thoughts about news, talks and read authentic articles on topics familiar and important to you with relative ease and confidence.

– You’ll be able to talk about your likes and dislikes, preferences and hobbies in a culturally appropriate way when drawing comparisons.

– You’ll be able to enter unprepared into conversations where the topic discussed is familiar to you.
