3.0 Fluency Programme

Recommended when becoming functionally fluent is your priority. You will be able to get yourself understood comfortably and confidently in business situations, and to understand most of what’s being said to you and around you.

Suitable for basic / intermediate speakers who want to express themselves more comfortably and confidently in situations they are most likely to encounter. Also suitable for more advanced speakers who have a good basic understanding of using the language in both social and professional situations but want to take their knowledge to another level and further develop to and interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity.

3.1. Social Fluency Essentials

Programme length: 20 sessions / 10 weeks or 20 weeks
Overview: The basics at a higher level: Professional introduction. Meeting & greetings, pleasantries, small talk. Networking. Everyday life events and routines, scheduling and planning. Food and drinks culture. Eating in and out. Paying a visit. Invitations. Giving and receiving presents. Shopping. Staying at hotels. Using different services. Travelling and getting around. Voicing opinions, agreement, disagreement.
Key outcomes:

Programme length: 20 sessions / 10 weeks or 20 weeks
Overview: The basics at a higher level: Interests and hobbies – both work-related and personal. Telephone ethics. Messaging and email ethics. Work and occupation – the bigger picture. Current affairs and events. International news and their short- and long-term implications.
Key outcomes:
  • yesYou’ll be able to read, watch and listen to authentic news, movies, articles, podcasts and videos, get the gist of what’s been said and give a summary in a coherent way.

Overview: Traditions, customs, habits, cultural differences. Current affairs and events. National and international news and their short- and long-term implications.

Overview: The basics at a higher level: Work – the bigger picture. Industry-specifics. Everyday tasks and duties. Scheduling. Welcoming visitors. Email and phone etiquette. Hierarchy at work. Voicing opinion, agreement and disagreement. Giving and receiving advice, suggestions and asking for help and favours.
Key outcomes:

Overview: Further and more advanced specs of the field you work in. Business culture. Leadership styles. Constructive debates. Conflict solving. Communication – phone calls, emails, messages, video conferencing. Work trips. Money and finance.
Key outcomes:
